PMA – The Business of General Practice
Welcome to the Practice Managers Association
The Practice Managers Association (PMA) is a UK-wide membership body that provides insight, training, education and interaction opportunities for those involved in General Practice. Its membership comprises Practice Managers, General Practitioners, Practice Business Managers, Nurse Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists – all working in partnership. It seeks to facilitate and promote best practice amongst its members.
General practice in 2020 will not look the same as today – and nor should it. The new look general practice will be able to work at scale, making best use of new technologies. There will be professional development and expansion of the healthcare workforce and improved practice environments. The GP practice will be working as part of a more joined up primary care workforce able devote the greatest amount of time to quality and health improvement for patients and local communities.
The PMA offers education and support to those involved in the business management aspects of general practice. It is free to join and, by doing so, you’ll benefit from all we have to offer – and there’s plenty.
Further your education and self-development by attending any or all of the PMA Workshops. By attending any six, you will receive a Certificate of Excellence in Practice Management, presented by the ILM. All the information you need is available on each individual workshop page.
If you’d like to aim higher, you can opt for our Level 3 and Level 5 Diplomas in Leadership and Management or Level 3 Certificate in Medical Terminology. See the Education page on our website for more information.
We also run bespoke workshops at CCG, HB and CEPN level. This is an excellent way to ensure consistency across practices. It also gives you the opportunity to discuss and share ideas locally. See our dedicated CCG and HB page for details and feedback from your peers.
In early 2018, the PMA will be offering a selection of Webinars. These will provide a 40-minute summary of the main workshops and will be run at a time convenient to most practice managers. We will be publishing more information and joining instruction on our website soon. It will be free to attend for PMA Members.
Our monthly PMA Newsletter and CCG and HB Bulletins are an easy way to stay in touch with all we do. Sign up to keep updated with relevant news relating to the NHS, useful information, workshops and webinars. If you like to keep up to date daily, join us on Twitter @PMAssocUK.
We held our inaugural PMA Conference & Exhibition in June 2017. More news to come on how we follow this up next year.
The PMA Forums allow you to share your views, let off a little steam (not too much, please!) and have a giggle with others about the more light-hearted moments at the practice. It’s also a great way to expand your network.
The overall aim of the PMA is to encourage the sharing of knowledge & help those involved in general practice attain the highest standards.
We’d be delighted to welcome you! Join us.
