Welcome to the Practice Managers Association
The Practice Managers Association (PMA) is a UK-wide membership body that provides insight, training, education and interaction opportunities for those involved in General Practice. Its membership comprises Practice Managers, General Practitioners, Practice Business Managers, Nurse Practitioners and Pharmacists – all working in partnership. It seeks to facilitate and promote best practice amongst its members.
General practice in 2020 will not look the same as today – and nor should it. The new look general practice will be able to work at scale, making best use of new technologies. There will be professional development and expansion of the healthcare workforce and improved practice environments. The GP practice will be working as part of a more joined up primary care workforce able devote the greatest amount of time to quality and health improvement for patients and local communities.
The Practice Managers Association provides education and support to GPs and Practice Managers. Join us now and benefit from all we have to offer.
Our goal is to develop the skills you need to better understand and run the business aspects of General Practice. As a GP or Practice Manager, you can further your education and self-development by attending any or all of the PMA Workshops run in London and Manchester. By attending any six PMA Workshops, you will receive a Certificate of Excellence in Practice Management, presented by the ILM. If you’d like to aim higher, you can opt for our Level 3 and Level 5 Diplomas in Leadership and Management or Level 3 Certificate in Medical Terminology. See our Education page for more information.
If you prefer, we run bespoke workshops at CCG and Health Board level. This is an excellent way to ensure consistency across practices. It also gives you the opportunity to discuss and share ideas locally.
In Autumn 2017, the PMA will be offering a selection of Webinars. These will provide a 40-minute summary of the main workshops and will be run at a time convenient to the majority of practice managers. Watch this space for more news.

We held our inaugural PMA Conference & Exhibition in June 2017. More news to come on how we follow this up next year.
The PMA Forums allow you to share your views, let off a little steam (not too much, please!) and have a giggle with others about the more light-hearted moments at the practice. It’s also a great way to expand your Practice Manager network.
