The PMA Members Council is a collection of the most innovative and progressive managers and critical thinkers brought together from across the health and social care sectors.

The principal purpose of the PMA Members Council is to ensure that the PMA’s membership and professional standards are maintained and applied to the required criteria, so that PMA adds to the professional standing and recognition of those working in the non-clinical areas of health and social care. PMA professional membership provides this validation and recognition.

The PMA Members Council will also ensure the PMAs educational programmes and services are mapped to the operational and strategic needs across all those who work in the health and social care sectors. They will support the work of the PMA to ensure we provide members with opportunities for continuous professional development.

Denise Smith

PMA Members Council Member

I have worked for the NHS/Primary Care for 19 years, prior to that I worked in the Banking Industry.

I have strong leadership, drive and management skills and the ability to bring out the best in each member of staff. It was a measure of my determination and forethought that we proudly achieved Outstanding by the CQC in 2018. I believe Communication is key to making PCNs work.

I manage the SMASH PCN together with the Clinical Director. There are 7 GP practices/approx 70,000 patients in our PCN. I co-Chair the SMASH PCN board meeting and Chair an additional Practice Managers meeting.

I am proud to part of the team at PMA Practice Managers Association and look forward to playing a part in their vision moving forward. The support that the PMA can provide to Practice Managers is invaluable.
