ILM Level 3 and 5 Diplomas in Leadership & Management (Taster Day)2018-08-15T16:03:19+00:00

Project Description

This workshop has been developed for those who would potentially like to take up either the PMA GP Assistant Practice Manager – ILM Level 3 Diploma in Leadership & Management or the PMA GP Practice Manager – ILM Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management. You will gain a good insight into the courses at both levels enabling you to determine whether they are appropriate for you.

This one-day workshop is designed to give you an understanding of what each course entails, the commitment you will need to give in order to achieve the qualification, and what the outcomes will be for you and the practice you work for.

PMA Tutor/Assessors will be on hand throughout the day to offer advice and guidance. The day will be enlightening, engaging and fun for all who attend.

Challenges can arise at any time and to be an effective leader you need to be able to respond to those challenges with intelligence, with integrity but also with the knowledge that you understand the strategy of the practice and have the expertise to deliver against the business objectives. Leadership training courses help build self-confidence, knowledge and wisdom – and these in tandem with the skills and insights to deliver against the core values of the practice provide the foundation for strong leadership of innovation and change.

The ILM Leadership and Management courses will help teach you the essential skills and techniques you need in order to look at the general practice challenges from a different perspective.

  • Duration: All day

  • Location: On-site/locally

Who should attend?

Don't miss opportunity to work with leading specialists in a series of full day workshops specifically focused on the ‘business’ aspects of General Practice.
  • General Practitioners

  • Practice Managers

  • Senior Practice Nurses

  • GP Administrator Managers

The programme will empower you to succeed.

If you think great leaders are born and not made, think again. The ILM Leadership and Management course will focus on individual needs with training using various techniques and examples to emphasise the point that with a little hard work we all have it in us to be great leaders.

We will give you the valuable skills you need to lead effectively, including the often tricky skills required when conflict occurs and how to to persuade and influence stakeholders and colleagues.

The programme will bring out a Leader and Manager in all participants.

PMA will encourage introspection and reflection offering the opportunity for you to discover where you need development. Only after realising these areas can you begin to improve your skills. The ILM Operational management course will give the opportunity to get to know yourself a little better by exploring your motivation to lead and to test your level of self-confidence, your emotional intelligence and other qualities that are needed to become a good leader. It will give you the chance to look at key strategies of successful leaders, allowing you to study how leadership ideas have emerged and changed over time, helping you make sense of the often-conflicting ideas about leadership that cause so much confusion. You’ll also get the opportunity to network with peers and other leaders, you will be encouraged you to work with Leaders within the business to draw on their experiences.

Successful leaders have a clear, sound vision of where they want to go. The training will give you the chance to step back and to examine your organisation and to think about how the future may unfold. What National agendas affect a Good Practice within the demands of an ever-changing landscape.

PMA will use examples of motivation skills and show you how these can be used to motivate your team.

PMA teach you how to build a team. You’ll gain insights on how to pick a good team, how to manage the recruitment process, how to build a team capable of delivering your vision for a Forward-Thinking Practice.
